This year Tomi Kurman and I - Corrib Predator Team- decided to fish for 3-4 days in a row from very start of the season. We couldn't wait to go out and try new ideas and techniques which we have thought about and discussed for all dull winter weeks. This years mild weather was very promising for an early success. With water temp just over 7 degree, we jumped into our boats on early morning of Opening Day.
It didn't take long until we turned our theories into results!
We fished for 3 days in mostly windy and rainy conditions- not great for Ferox fishing. Later, after checking the weather forecast we decided to go back to the lake on Sunday. It was beautiful day. It would be a shame not to spend it on the water.
To make long story short:
We have landed 8 superb Trout - 50cm, 75cm, 76cm, 78cm, 80cm, 82cm, 83cm, and monster fish at 90cm!
My best fish was a great conditioned beast at 83 cm and 17lb.
Jack got future record breaker- fish at 90 cm weighed "only" 17lb 6 oz now, but later in the season he will gain some weight.... Note that there is 7 cm difference between those two fish, and the weight is nearly the same.
Also one Trout was caught by our Guest on Sunday- Tomek got his PB by landing Ferox at 84.5cm and 16lb 3oz!
So that is 9 fish in total. Average size of all fish was well over 10 lbs and that makes beginning of the new season even more successful! We could have rounded the record to 10 fish caught, but on Sunday I lost Trout of around 13- 15 lb just at the boat...
We were hoping for good start of the season, but this was even beyond our expectations.
All fish were returned in great condition and it's only a matter of time when we meet them again, so roll on in the New Season!

The ferox season will start very soon.Everybody around talking only about it and counting days to 15 of February... However, just before spotty ones hunt starts, we had to change our plans and go fishing for pike once more because we were asked to do field test of the latest colour versions of "Hybrida" jerkbaits. Four new colours in J1 model. Honestly, I didn't think i would have to fish for pike in February, but what can you do? As soon as ferox season on the lakes will start we are planing to spend first six weeks fishing for ferox only. We'll go back to pikes in April. Meanwhile, we sacrificed two days for tests. We were fishing on mentioned above jerks but we also caught few fish on old and already tested lures. Fishing was good and there was no time for boredom. How did the tests go? You can judge it yourself...:-)

At the end of October, well known Scotish Fly angler and angling journalis Andy Bowman visited us in Ireland. On this ocassion his aim was to fish on couple of pike waters, and promote Ireland as top Pike fly fishing destination.
Inland Fisheries Ireland chose group of guides to help with his "mission". Myself and Jacek were asked to fish with Andy on 5th and 6th day.
As we were told- fishing wasn't great as in first four days guys had only one fish landed- we had to make it up!
On our first day we met up on the launching spot. While we were getting boats ready Andy and Kevin Crowley from IFI arrieved. After usual plesanties and short talk we headed to our first spot. Although, we located fish very fast, they weren't too active and not every follow ended up with attack. Water temp dropped suddenly with first few frosty mornings.
On the second day we had to face stormy winds and rain downpurs- not great conditions for fly fishing.
Against the conditions, during these two days, fishing turned from "saving a blank" to good days, as we (well Andy did.... ) landed couple of really nice pikes.
Mission Accomplished!
Just after Andy came back home we recived an email from him stating that two days with us were most succesfull in the entire trip! Good news, especially that in the next year we will try to help Andy with more challenging task....but for now its too early for details... ;-)

The phone rings, it is Tom, talked with Kevin Crowley (Fisheries Information Oficcer), asks whether we can enclose two guests from the Netherlands. Rob Kraaijeveld (the largest news agency in the Netherlands) and Bram Bokkers (journalist's largest fishing magazine in the Netherlands Beet) have come to do the material to promote the Irish fishery. We are somewhat surprised, but also proud that we selected for this task, usually they do so, local guides, but our results in trout fishing and we were done their appreciated by the people responsible for promoting Irish fisheries in the world. When the expedition came the day I had mine nietęgą, exceptionally bad weather, the pressure of flying down, windy and rainy. Leaving from the port by force tell myself that it will be good. On my boat Kevin and Michael Hennessy (Fisheries Information Manager), the Dutch Tom. By noon, without taking, flows to the island, where we eat something from the grill. We meet a few locals, too fly for trout, a few boats had a bite and took out a trout. We return to fight, I decide to swim in the area where two days ago I took out three fish. Already in the first napłynięciu we take, towing Kevin, the fish is about 70 cm. Put it into a special bag and slowly flows down the island to take a picture there in the open water, this would be extremely difficult, the waves are about 1.5 m high! After a photo shoot fish while recovering but finally leaves and we go back to fishing. After two hours of the next bite, and this time Michael pulls out a trout with a length of 75cm. I'm happy, not disappointed in such difficult conditions. Jacek Gorny

Passed in May, it was for us very busy month, the weather did not favor us, initially flauta and sharp sun which is the bane of the half pike. Later began to blow, for three weeks, almost daily winds speeds exceed 30 km / h and there were days when he blew three times harder! Very difficult for us to work, but we could not disappoint our guests. We did everything that fish have written yet, visited various fishery so that the wind does not teased us. Despite such adverse conditions, our clients returned home satisfied, we caught many large fish, most were 115cm! Unfortunately the weather did not let us swim for Ferox Trouti, the only customers who were so minded, they came in such a wind that there was even talk of test sail on the open water, only one day the wind dropped so much that we gave counsel to sail in good place and after an hour Ernest posed for a photo with trout 78cm, about 12 pounds! Unfortunately, the wind intensified again and we had to drain safety reasons. Visited us several excellent fishing, including the owner of the German Jurgen Haes's Think Big. Pioneering methods jerkbaits in German, that Mark Michan (jerkbait.com). Gregor Babiarz, owner Hybrida Wobbler. These meetings were an opportunity to compare different schools jerkingu. Opportunity to learn about new lures and presentation. He is also the ultimate test of the newest "baby" from Hybridy Wobbler. Walker did a great W1! Attacks on this lure are incredibly spectacular and long will be in our memory. The following photos of our guests, the most interesting fish in May. Enjoy watching.
